Upcoming Alpha Roadmap


Hello, pilots!

Omega Squadron is getting to the point where I am comfortable exiting the pre-alpha and transitioning into the alpha phase of the project. This means I can share some general plans for the next few updates to the game. Let's dive in!

As you can see in the alpha roadmap image, the first update will bring us into Alpha 0.1. This will include all currently planned weapons, introduce ship upgrades, add a detailed "stats" page, and finally add some new enemy wave patterns and background graphics.

For weapons, there will be five rarities: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and mythic. For each rarity, there will be three different weapons. These will range from common weapons like a rifle to mythic weapons like a giant laser sword.

There will also be rarities to ship upgrades, but for this next update not all of them will be implemented. These will be basic stat boosts, like max speed up, pickup range up, etc. I'm hoping to add more unique upgrades as development progresses.

Next, the detailed stat page will show when you collect enough experience and level up. It will show your current weapon stats, your upgraded weapon stats, and also how any ship upgrades will affect them.

Finally, there will be more variety in enemy waves with planned patterns appearing at certain intervals. This will help spice up how you approach and dodge through the Everwave. There will also be some randomized planets events in space to add details to the stars behind the player.

If everything goes well, this update will be available sometime in February.
